Drupal 8.0.0: First Beta Released

Drupal 8.0.0 - beta1 has just been released for testing and feedback. The first beta, according to the Drupal team, is thanks to the efforts of over 2,300 people who contributed more than 11,500 committed patches to 15 alpha releases, and especially the 234 contributors who fixed 177 "beta blocker" issues.
